We are thrilled to be welcoming Edinburgh University Chamber Choir for a free concert of choral music ranging all the way from centuries past up until the modern day.

Edinburgh University Chamber Choir is an auditioned classical choir, founded in 1965 by Prof. David Kimbell and directed by Michael Bawtree since 2018. The Choir sings challenging repertoire from the 7th-21st century, which provides an excellent environment for our members to grow both individually and as a group. Not only do they achieve high singing standards, but they provide the perfect environment for members to compose music and to promote young conductors.

With 31 singers, they are the smallest of the University of Edinburgh's auditioned choirs. They give two end-of-semester concerts with many more collaborative projects throughout the year. Their performances include visits to festivals, BBC Radio 4 recordings and concerts with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Glasgow Chamber Choir, Edinburgh Royal Choral Union and Andrea Bocelli. They also tour internationally each year, with appearances in Florence and Sienna (2023), Dublin and Belfast (2022), Croatia (2019), Oslo (2017), and Budapest (2016) to name but a few.

They are very excited to be touring Sweden and Denmark this year, having the opportunity to share our music and explore somewhere new together!
