Groups and Activities

Bible Study Group

The Bible Study group meets every other Tuesday, currently at St Alban’s House. It is usually led by the Chaplain and is open to all. We begin at 1930 and finish at 2100. At the moment we are studying the Gospel of St Mark. For more information please contact Edith Beyer, tel: 38 71 60 44 or e-mail (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Advent and Lent Groups

During Advent and Lent St Alban´s holds study or devotional courses which are open to all. Recently we have explored what prayer is, the meaning of sabbath for contemporary people, lesser known Christmas customs, and have studied the work of some poets. For more information please call the Chaplain, tel: 39 62 77 36.

Altar Guild

Although the church is cleaned each week, it is also essential that special care is given to the fabric and many furnishings of the church. To oversee this we have the Altar Guild. People take responsibility for the brass, candles, cupboards, linen, silver, vestments, flowers and wrought iron. Meetings are held to ensure all is in good order. If you feel you can help with any of these important tasks, please contact Carole Rasmussen, tel: 39 69 57 03 or e-mail (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

The Choir

The Sunday Sung Eucharist is enriched by the singing of our Choir. If you would like to explore the possibility of joining (men especially welcome at the moment!), please contact the Organist and Choirmaster Peter Rohling.

Peter’s contact details are:

Sunday School

Sunday School meets at 10.30 on a Sunday morning and is open to all children who wish to join in. Find out more about Sunday School or contact Rosemary Kronby, tel: 38 74 98 41.

Guardians

The people of St Alban´s feel it is very important to welcome the many visitors who wish to see the church, especially during the Summer. Consequently we organise a rota of people who look after the Church and welcome visitors on Mondays to Fridays from 1000 to 1600 and on Sunday afternoons from 1300 to 1600. We are always looking for helpers to maintain this rota. If you are interested, please contact Chris and Nini Leigh at (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

St Alban’s Wives’ Group

The Wives´group is a long-standing social group at St Alban´s, bringing together women from the congregation for conversation, meals and fun. Please contact the chaplain for more information tel: 39627736 or e-mail: (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Cinema Club

Once a month we organise a trip to the cinema. It is a chance for people to meet up, watch a film and enjoy some conversation on the way home afterwards. If you would like to know more, please call Victoria Wadsworth-Hansen tel: 22 15 22 91 or e-mail: (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Environmental Task Force

This group meets to discuss issues that are raised by the Church of England´s Shrinking the Footprint Campaign and to advise the Church Council on issues regarding climate change and environmental issues. Our Environmental Officer is Owen Prewett: email (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) tel: 32
58 57 46.

Flower Arrangers

St Alban´s is decorated with flowers for each Sunday of the year, except for those in Advent and Lent. We have a rota of people who sign up to arrange the flowers and are always looking for more to join in. If interested, please call Carole Rasmussen on 39 69 57 03.

Coffee Rota

After the Sunday service we believe it is very important to provide a time that allows people to meet one another over some refreshments. In the cold months we do this in the main body of the church but in warmer days we meet outside next to the church. We have a rota of people who kindly prepare and serve the coffee and other refreshments and we need more people on this rota! If you feel you can help, please contact Edith Elwert, tel: 43 61 21 13 or e-mail: (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
