Remembrance Sunday 11 Nov.
Posted on Tuesday 30th October, 2018
Remembrance Day is a day to remember and honour service men and women who have lost their lives since World War 1.
A two-minute silence is held at 11am on November 11, which marks the day the armistice was signed between the Allies and Germany. This signing brought the end of the first World War, which was 100 years ago.
A Remembrance prayer vigil will be held on Saturday 10th November from 11:00 until 12:00.
Sunday 11th November is Remembrance Sunday. There will be two services that morning at Saint Alban’s — a service of Holy Communion at 9.00 and a Service of Remembrance at 10.30.
Poppies — in aid of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal — are on sale in the Church porch. Money raised through the Poppy Appeal goes directly to the Legion’s welfare work, providing through-life care to anyone who currently serves in the British Armed Forces, who has previously served, and their families. See http://www.britishlegion.org.uk for further details of this year’s appeal.
