Praying Together Across Europe For Racial Justice
Posted on Thursday 11th June, 2020
Bishops Robert and David have written this evening to Chaplains, clergy, Readers and Churchwardens in the Diocese with the following invitation to prayer at a virtual service:
Praying Together Across Europe For Racial Justice
Friday 12 June 2020
12.00 CET
An invitation to come together for prayer, scripture, silence of 8 minutes and 46 seconds, and blessing, in solidarity with BAME communities around the world. This will be a brief service (15 minutes) at 12 noon CET, the hour our Lord hung upon the cross. Please bring a candle to light. This candle can be brought later to our churches which are now open, or in the process of reopening, as a visible commitment to racial justice.
We very much hope you will be able to join us for this brief offering of prayer and deep reflection.
Please join from 11.45 CET onwards so we are ready to start at 12.00.
At the same time, we know that our friends across the length and breadth of the diocese will want to feel part of this act of worship on Friday even though they will not be able to join virtually. In sharing this information further within your chaplaincies, we ask that you invite them to join us in prayer where they are at 12.00 CET. There will be a note on the website, and a short order of service posted, so that everyone has the opportunity to follow how we, as a diocese, are engaging in our worship.
