Choral Evensong for the Feast of All Saints’

Posted on Monday 17th October, 2016

On Sunday 30 October at 15.00 the combined voices of the Saint Alban’s Church Choir and the Choir of Saint Leonard’s Streatham in Greater London will sing Choral Evensong at Saint Alban’s.

The service, which is being coordinated by Mie Othelie Berg (Organist at Saint Alban’s) and Michael Emery (who served as Organist at Saint Leonard’s from 2009 until he moved to Copenhagen last year) will feature music by Richard Ayleward (1626–1669) Charles Villiers Stanford (1852–1924) and David Blackwell (b. 1961). The preacher will be the Revd Palle Thordal.

Choral Evensong – widely regarded as one of the great riches of the Anglican liturgical tradition – combines sung responses and canticles (songs of praise based on biblical texts) as well as readings, prayers, hymns and a sermon. It will last about fifty minutes and all are welcome to attend.
