“Céad Míle Buíochas” – A Message from the Chaplain

Posted on Thursday 21st September, 2017

My dear friends,

As Sunday (24 September) is my final Sung Eucharist at Saint Alban’s, I’d like to take this opportunity to say “thank you” to you all. In Ireland we often speak of giving visitors a “céad míle fáilte”. Translated it means “a hundred thousand welcomes” and that’s what I received when I came to Denmark a few short years ago.

You welcomed me into the wonderfully diverse Saint Alban’s Church “family”; you welcomed me into your homes and hearts; and you welcomed me into your confidence and trust. I am extremely grateful for the “céad míle fáilte” I received at Saint Alban’s.

And so, if I may be allowed to coin a new phrase, I would like to give you all a “céad míle buíochas” — a hundred thousand thank you’s. Thank you for all you do to sustain and grow the Church and further the Kingdom of God; thank you for supporting the many new initiatives we have taken at Saint Alban’s in the last few years; and thank you for forgiving the flaws and encouraging the gifts of your priest. A hundred thousand thank you’s.

Finally, please do come and visit if you are ever in Oslo. And please continue to pray for me, as I will for you.

May the Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you;
the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace. Amen.
