Aarhus 50 Year Celebrations

Posted on Wednesday 7th September, 2016

In November 1966 the first-ever English language Anglican service in Aarhus was held in Vor Frue Kirke when Marion Gyde Poulsen arranged for the Revd Harold L. Hertzler, Chaplain of Saint Alban’s in Copenhagen, to travel to Jutland.

Two years later, on 27 November 1968, another Anglican service was held in Møllevangs Church in Aarhus, this time conducted by the Revd Hugh Picton of Saint Alban’s. Since then, the English language services have continued at Møllevangs at varying time intervals. In 2015 the services were moved to the last Sunday of every month and the congregation has experienced significant growth.

So, this coming November will mark a half-century of Anglican services in Aarhus and a special Service of Thanksgiving and Celebration will be held in Møllevangs Church at 18.00 on Sunday 27 November. The Saint Alban’s Church Choir will travel over to sing at the service, and all who would like to attend this special event are welcome to make the journey too. Details of travel arrangements will be announced later. Watch the website for further details.
