Purcell Concert

one Great harmony…
On Saturday 26th April at 19:30 there will be a celebration in St Alban´s of the great English composer Henry Purcell (1659-95) and the theatre singers who performed his works, including the colourful Mrs Bracegirdle, in a recital given by British soprano Jacqueline Dias and talented harpsichordist Gunnhild Tønder.
Repertoire will include such well-loved songs as ´Fairest Isle’ and ´Music for a While’, together with two of his greatest domestic sacred pieces, ´An Evening Hymn’ and ´The Blessed Virgin’s Expostulation’.
Interspersed throughout the evening will be poems and extracts from the period read by actress and broadcaster Claire Clausen.
Saturday 26 April, 7.30 p.m.
Entry: tickets at the door, 100 DKK (under 18 yrs, 50 DKK).
All proceeds are generously raised for the church.
