Mark is leaving!
Posted on Monday 28th April, 2008
It was announced at the Annual General Meeting yesterday, 27th April, that Mark, our Chaplain, is to leave St Alban’s at the beginning of August.
He is to take up a dual appointment in the London Diocese: as priest in charge of the Grosvenor Chapel, Mayfair, and as Director of Ordinands for the Bishop of London. A Director of Ordinands is the person who has responsibility for the selection, welfare and training of those to be ordained in the Church.
Mark said on Sunday: “I have been hugely happy at St Alban’s and I know that I shall always look back at my time here as a happy period of my life and a time when I felt very supported and encouraged”. He said he hoped he had contributed something to the worship and life of St Alban’s over the last three years. He felt it important, though, to be nearer his grandmother, who brought him up, as she has increasingly disabling osteo-arthritis. He said he looked forward to the next chapter of his ministry and asked for prayers.
In reply to his announcement, Katie Robson said: “I have always felt that you have almost been too good to be true. I think that I speak for all when I say you have lead us, you have taught us and you have challenged us to explore and grow in our own faith. You have supported us and have been a confidant and a friend. You have a true gift and we are very grateful for the time you have been here and for the time you have shared with us”.
The date of Mark’s last service at St Alban’s will be announced in due course.
